Construction to begin on hotel for Crystal Bridges (AP)

BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Construction is to begin soon on a luxury hotel that will be designed to host travelers to the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville.

The city has been upgrading water and sewer lines for the hotel. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports construction is to begin in mid-September.

The hotel will go up just north of Bentonville’s downtown square and will be walking distance from the museum.

The museum is bankrolled by the fortune of Wal-Mart heiress Alice Walton and is to open in November. Several restaurants are also planned for the area.

Miss Singapore 2010



Finalists of the Miss Singapore Pageant pose for photographs in swimwear by a pool in Singapore on August 6, 2010. The grand finals will be on August 21 from which the top 10 selected will be tested on their passion for the Earth.
      
       The grand finals will take place at the Hotel Intercontinental Singapore at 7:00 pm. 23 contestants will compete for the Miss Singapore 2010 title. The winner will represent Singapore in the Miss World 2010 contest in China.
      
       Miss World this year occurs in Sanya, China's Hainan province. The final is set to take place on October 30.

Indian group denies sale of Aman resorts to Singapore firm




Singaporean luxury resorts chain Banyan Tree is in talks on buying a majority stake in fellow high-end hotel group Amanresorts, India's Financial Express newspaper reported Monday.

The daily quoted a person familiar with the matter as saying that DLF, the Indian real estate firm that owns Aman, was in advanced talks to sell most of the business for about 350 million dollars.

Banyan Tree has a range of interests, from hotels and resorts to spas, shopping centres and golf courses around the world.
